Identity

Writer: Marked MovementMarked Movement

Who are you?

It should be easy to answer shouldn’t it.

We should know who we are.

But do you know who you are?

Better yet do you know who God created you to be?

The world tends to try to tell us who we are, and will succeed if we let it.

Daily we have the battle of seeing who to the world we are “supposed” to be or who the world wants to influence you to be.

We have to be careful what we allow to influence us.

Eventually that will be who you identify yourself as.

You are not who the world says you are, you are who God says you are.

How do we find out what God has to say about us?

How do we know what he thinks of us?

Why does God get to say who we are? He created us. He then has the authority to give us our identity.

If you think not knowing who you are is no big deal, that is a lie from the enemy. So many times this last year I’ve met so many people who have no idea who they are. They range from all ages, from young to old. This is what I would say is one of the biggest wins for the devil. To confuse God’s creation as to who He created them to be.

For some, you do know who are, and you run from it.

Maybe it’s been prayed over you.

Maybe you’ve had an encounter with God and he’s made it clear to you.

Yet you’re still not walking in your identity in Christ.

Why?

Another tactic from the enemy.

Fear.

This past year has been a huge discovery year for me.

Learning that us learning who we are, who God has created us to be is so important.

If we never realize who we are, we will not walk in what God has for us. Us completing what assignments God has for us ties into who we are.

If we don’t realize who we are, how can we go do what He has planned for us.

God has created us all intentionally. If you’ve heard differently I’m here to tell you that’s not the truth. God tells us multiple times in the Bible how he knew us before we were born or before he created the world.

If you stop and think about that for a moment, that’s some intention.

No matter how you entered this world, God has a purpose for you.

For you to step into that purpose you need to realize who you are.

Once again I ask, who are you?
Who has God created you to be?

We are all different. We all have different talents and gifts. We’re all meant for OUR purpose on this earth.

Who my friends are, are not your friends. Who your family is, is not my family. Who’s in your circle is not in my circle. We are all created for our own purpose. For those around us. For those we will be around. For those we will encounter. Whether today or tomorrow or sometime in the future.

I won’t be able to reach who you’re meant to reach. That’s intended for you.

But if you are not confident in your identity in Christ, you may miss the mark.

If we allow our own fears and weaknesses lead us we will not step into our identity.

In the Bible Moses is known for parting the Red Sea and how great that is. And it is. But when you look at his story closely he did not feel worthy or ready to do what God was calling him to do. Talking about identity, he didn’t want anyone to know who he was, he ran from who he was raise to be. The identity that was given to him at birth was not who he truly was, and he struggled with it later in life. He hid for years in the desert, until he had an encounter with God. God had to tell him who he was and what he had waiting for him but it was hard for him to accept. He protested. But that didn’t stop God. He still knew what he wanted Moses to do. He had to convince Moses he could do it.

Sometimes we’re like that. I know I was and am still learning to just say Yes Lord, Here I Am. God wants our yes. He wants you to surrender to him and he will use you as he intended. You will begin to realize who you are; who you’ve always been. Many things will make sense when you finally seek God out for your identity. Because who you are was always there, because God already knew you since before the beginning of time.

You have an identity, it is in Christ.
You have a purpose, God has it waiting for you.

My prayer is that you learn who God wants you to be and that you would walk full force in that identity. The enemy is terrified for you to discover who God created you to be and will do anything in his power to prevent that from happening! Push forward regardless and begin to walk in who God created you to be. The Kingdom of God is waiting for you to rise up!
